In the spirit of Halloween I decided to write a little helpful guide for you fellas who keep asking yourself "What the fuck am I supposed to be for Halloween this year?"

You would've gone thru this list at least once before asking yourself the question:

- "I don't want to be shirtless, I haven't worked out in months."
- "Masks are a hot mess at the bar/club. I want the ladies to see my handsome face."
- "I realize about 80% of the guys in (your current location for partying) have/has the same costume idea as me.."
- "I don't want to spend that much on a costume because it's retardly expensive for a fucking piece of cloth."

There's only a small number of us who will go out of our way to drop the $50+ on a costume you'd probably wear only for one weekend. You'd also probably be spending more money on shots, b-wraps, the ladies, etc. So in total, you'd probably be spending around...

$200-300 bucks? FUCK that!

I'm here to let you in on a little secret I discovered; found this out last year and wow, it is perhaps the best fucking costume idea ever. What I'm talking about is:

That's right folks. A mustache.

You can get really creative with any sort of mustache (I feel like beards would also fall into this category, but let's face it, mustaches don't make a woman's face itch as much as a beard during intimate moments). You can use any of your ol' clothes in the closet to make brand new costumes ON THE SPOT.

$5 mustache + Button-up + White tee + Extra accessories = Mexican Drug Cartel member
$5 mustache + your one Fedora in your closet + Cardigan or Peacoat = '50's-80's Dapper Rico-Suave
$5 mustache + White Bedsheet + Scissors = White Bedsheet Ghost with a mustache

The possibilities are endless, and all pretty fucking cheap compared to buying stupid plastic guns, costumes that are wayyy too hot or cold... and the only bit of sacrifice for this would be your upper lip.

Though it is already in the middle of Halloween weekend and many of you have already prepared costumes for the night... this post is to ya'll who are always fashionably late to everything and always let the flow of life guide you to your destiny..

Woke up still drunk from all the partying the night before. I'm never the type to go out to a club and see dudes like this guy passed out in the booth while puking himself.. not at all. I generally spend most of my days hidden in the shadows and not getting sloppy at the booth while getting broken off like you wouldn't remember a damn thing.

Needed to get some pho, and FAST. Made a few phone calls, we all mob up, and onward into the pho restaurant.

Still drunk as fuck, periodically puking while trying to enjoy my meal (that I didn't even order) I thought it was time to move on and take action. Service was poor and I had to wait for my meal for about an hour and a half; that totally calls for a dine and dash.

We make it around the corner then start slowing down. It wasn't until the homeboy said "I think someone is chasing us..?" that we started running for our lives back inside my apartment building. Luckily we had a half a block ahead of him; as we entered the building the guy chasing us was downstairs pulling on the door trying to get in. I've never experienced a true "dine and dash" like this ever.

No, I do not condone misbehavior like this on the regular, but seriously, this place was fucking asking for it.

Hey everyone,

So another long awaited update on my whereabouts and doings. I have been quite well; as Wreck Room continues to become into something I would imagine would be the ideal "dancer's haven," I managed to finally put the orders in for Fish Food Collections (click here for fish food one or two for a sample). Should be arriving in a couple weeks, and here are three reasons why you should pick one up:

1. There is an additional 25 minutes of music that cannot be heard from any of the links above (which in total it is a whopping 60+ minutes worth of music). If you already enjoy what I have to offer on my other free mixtapes, then I'm sure you'll be saying something along the lines of "BECAUSE OF THIS FISH BOOGIE MIXTAPE I CAN FINALLY HIT MY AIRFLARE-FLARE-90 COMBO FLAWLESSLY AND NOT FEEL A DAMN THING."

CDs and lots of it

It's 2011 and we see more and more folks moving into the bandcamp/mixcrate/itunes direction when it comes to purchasing music. Besides the big named artists like Beyonce or Kanye West using this as a source of income, but we are beginning to see that a lot of no named artists (I suppose I fall into this category..) are beginning to use this as their weapon of choice for the hustle and nowadays, we just don't see as many CD's.

Luckily with bboys and mixtapes, a lot of folks are kinda prehistoric and not up-to-date with technology; then it makes sense that CD's can still thrive and be used more frequently than any business card with "check out douche bag dan's awesome fucking mixtape at www.dogshitmcfartfart.blogspot.com" written next to his phone number and name (I'll actually be including one of these in each of my CD's so... does this make me a douche bag too? :/ ). I figure if I can have something physical to give out to people it would boost my morale by 90% because lately, I have been pretty lazy and eating out a lot--man's biggest tragedy in life.

..On a lighter note, after finishing the last touches of Fish Food Volume 2 I'll be printing this on CD along with FF Vol. 1 as Fish Food Collections. Haven't figured out all the logistics yet, but I'm just lettin ya'll know it's coming up verrrry... soon!! =)

A Fireside Moment with Fish Boogie.

It's been awhile folks. This update is about some Q&A's I'm sure many of you have about me--considering that the majority of the time I am either busy spinning behind the tables at jams or I am stuck hiding in my room/cave/lab where nobody can seem to find me. One day I will be man enough to say all the things I want to say when I do get interviews in the future, for now this'll work.. kinda:

Q: So what got you into DJing?

A: Hmm.. well music is the only thing out there that really makes me happy. If it didn't involve music I struggled with it, plain and simple. I don't like numbers or facts, I just like the way music is interpreted to a person because there really isn't a right or wrong way of taking it in. DJing has a way of being the messenger of the past, you can dig up shit thats from the 1950's or from whatever period it came from and still be appreciated till this day. You can't forget a melody the way you forget the facts.

Q: Describe your style. What/who has influenced your style to what it is today?

A: Organic Funk. If you don't like anything funky or you got seatbelts on, you won't like me. If you're like me and loves listening to everything and anything out there, you'll definitely dig what I got to offer.

Q: One piece of advice for any up and coming DJ's?

A: I was watching this interview with J-Rocc from the Beat Junkies whose words still ring true to me till this day, which is to "stick with it." All it takes is a little luck with being in the right place at the right time... everything else will fall into place. Everyone's got the opportunity to make shit happen, you just gotta increase your chances of that happening.

Funny thing is, even after writing all of this I figure I will MOST LIKELY not even answer the same if this was all being done elsewhere. Maybe this pseudo-interview will come up again sometime in the future (highly unlikely but it would kick ass) or it can be mentioned again. This could be the start to something great!

Mixtapes: I KNOW a lot of you guys have been waiting on me to get off my ass and finish this damn thing! I know I've been busy, I think I've just been enjoying life too much to be working at the moment... It's just a phase folks, I'll be back soon.

EDIT: I edited some of the answers because I had actually thought about the questions some more after doing some "reinventing of myself.." I'd still most likely use a different answer each time I get interviewed though. lol..

Shortcuts and Traveling

Shortcuts are like winning $20 off your scratch ticket or going out to eat instead of cooking dinner at home. It's hella easy, you profit from it, and you can see life in a dimension that is quite overlooked and should be examined every once in awhile when life "gets hard." Obviously some of these shortcuts aren't so good to take (e.g. speeding life up on a cocaine binge or anything along those lines... err.. no pun..) but without em, it would take years to figure out some answers just because you never got around to experiencing them in the first place. Shortcuts.. they're the shit!

Take dancer X for example. Dancer X was fortunate to have been practicing with bboys who all specialize in incredibly difficult power moves that took them years to learn. To be able to gain those personal tips from them is in a way a shortcut compared to dancer Y who had been dancing in his bedroom for 10 years alone in his basement with no one to tell him how to fix his awful windmill he can't seem to be doing correctly. It's nice to get that extra boost once in awhile, it makes things in life go by a little faster (like all the extra practice time you get from learning from good bboys instead of trying to unlock moves on your own).

But that's not what I'm talking about here. Traveling is THE NUMBER ONE shortcut to getting good REAL fast. Mark my words, find anyone out there that is well-known for their art and hasn't done any traveling.. you won't find any!

With each trip I make to different states and cities, one thing I always walk away with is knowing where your place is in a room full of strangers who may/may not like what you're about and what you've got to offer. Even if you did the best in your hometown, you could be a total wreck in a different city--and folks will let you know it. After traveling, sometimes you realize that maybe "its not so bad back at home," sometimes it could turn out to be "a place where you need to move," or a "horrible pile of dolphin shit where 'home sweet home' rings so true." Regardless, you learn things instinctively and very quickly.

Sure, you lose that $1000 dollars going out to IBE to rep for maybe 30 seconds, but the experience of traveling, culture shock, meeting new people and languages, the food... that in itself is something that takes huge balls and becomes something that is a part of you for the rest of your life whether you know it or not! As humans our instincts are to adapt to our surroundings and have complete mastery over it. To submerge yourself in a spot where everything is unfamiliar makes you feel shaky, weak, insignificant... that is why in this sense, traveling becomes a shortcut because you want to adapt and improve. Photos, videos, books can only get us so close to actually just flying out to let's say... Brazil?

Take a moment to enjoy your short life with going somewhere far away from home. Get lost once in awhile, it's quite refreshing..!

Woke up today with sunshine, rainbows and some tender Louis Armstrong music playing in the background. Life was awesome momentarily for approximately one hour before officially becoming fucked-like-no-other.

Alas, there was an exam in the only class I've been going to consistently since the beginning of this quarter...great!! I blindly took the exam while the sunshine, rainbows and tender Louis Armstrong music continued to swag out and point fingers as if they were reminding me, "you got another blind exam too. You're screwed, homie." I then spent the rest of the hour listening to the most depressing music in the world and choking on half-sobs and boogers that needed to be wiped very badly.

The two exams were over and now was the time to pick up the pieces and recuperate. That's when I remembered about this group that was stuck on my headphones for.. about a month or two now?

Whitest Boy Alive

Personal synopsis: Imagine if Daft Punk's "Discovery" album meeting Kings of Convenience (the singer in this band is also the singer in the other band.. cool!). There aren't any electronic sounds, nothing fancy actually, just really catchy. This can be found being played at weird hipster parties, urban outfitters, or anything that is borderline between gay and very manly. The song that got me interested in this band was "1517" although many of the other songs are just as unique and enjoyable. If you are listening to "Rollercoaster Ride," if you happen to have a way to listen to your music slowed down, try listening it to it at -6% speed, it sounds almost haunting..!

Time to stop dehumanizing myself and being more personable

I've finally come to terms with myself, and one thing I missed most about my life is writing and documenting the things I do on a day to day basis. There is a certain feeling and understanding one gets from reading the words from someone else on a blog entry (journal, diary.. etc.) versus putting the pieces together from comments and "likes."

To become someone that matters in this world now is.. very difficult. People have their own belief systems, networks, bubbles that don't reach as far out as they used to. It is a very strange thing to think that because of this technology, it should be easier to connect A and B together because the internet made the world flat... right?

Inversely, it has caused us to only pay attention to details that matter to us. Nothing new or foreign ever seems to matter anymore, just whatever goes on in/out your circle, anything big, annoying, awesome.. it just doesn't occur to us that in the bigger spectrum of things, we have all put ourselves in a box and we didn't even know it.

Honestly it's been awhile since I've had the chance to sit down and just.. write. I don't want to be the "all amazing upcoming craze" that gets the spotlight only momentarily. I think it's worth much more if people follow me understanding my human capabilities instead of this inhuman figure that seems to do everything right (all the time)..

I think by writing to the world, honestly and with no doubts, people will get me. I laugh and cry at the same shit everyone else does, I just happen to DJ, and I just happened to try to do what I love doing for a living, that's it.

My updates on this blog used to be only about posting new music, mixtapes, free shit that anyone can come through and say "thanks dude.. Adios, I'll never see/hear you again!" I think it's time I rekindled this fire for writing and put those thoughts onto paper (err.. blog entry)!

Songs are worthless, so share them

Title says it all. We need to set aside our attachments to one or two songs in order to discover tens or thousands of others. I thought about it awhile back and figured it may be very vital for those who really involve themselves in the digging culture and understand what it takes to find new music:

Reasons Why Not to Put Worth Into Songs:

DJs who have been DJs their whole life are still looking for old music
--> This means there are billions of songs stil out there and undiscovered
--> This means there are also thousands of "newer" songs untouched that other DJs don't play
--> That means everyone's personal playlists are unique and independent
--> That means everyone has at least a handful of songs that no one has heard of
--> That means trading music should be: "Your best for my best," "Your worst for my worst," "My favorite for your favorite..!!"

Trading 10000 songs wil get you 1000 songs you don't have, 100 really fucking dope songs, and 10 of them become of actual use (in setting up your playlist).

Imagine if every musician decided to keep their own songs to themselves because they didn't want others to be in possession of it. Not only will they never have fans listening to their music, but nobody will know of them because their music was never in circulation to the general public. Music wasn't created to be kept in your ipod all to your lonely self. Hand it off to 2-15 people, I'm sure for a few of them their lives will never be the same after listening to "that one song."

The only reason why I am able to dig the way I do is because the ones who had passed the torch to me made it clear that music is to be shared and appreciated.

It's been quite some time since I have updated my blog. There have been a few changes since the last update. As of these next couple weeks, I am blessed with the opportunity to spin for a couple big jams coming up. First in the line up is Massive Monkees Day:

It's crazy to be spinning for an event that I saw as one of the biggest events in the NW in the past! Though I came into the bboying scene as of 2004-05, back then the battle has remained as "one of the only jams worth going out to" for out-of-towners. For this year, aside from finally readjusting the reoccuring issues from the past (preliminary battles that took... FOREVER!!) but there is a line up of DJs that will keep the intensity up all day/night for that Saturday. If you aren't up to anything good on this weekend, try and make it out--even better, come find me and say hello! :)

For the last 2 years this event has been successful and has been hailed as one of the newer big jams building repertoire in the west coast (this event originating from the LAX). I have been fortunate enough to have this event to debut as my first big event alongside one of NW's best breaks DJs, DJ Blesone (associated with MASH HALL and THEY LIVE). If you havent heard of him, please take the time to check him out; his mixtapes were-and still is-one of the best mixtapes to put in your stereo and dance to.. real talk.

The video project I was working on the past fell through. There is however a Claws Out promo I am currently working on due next week, as well as another small project for a friend's break video (we'll see how that turns out).

With the amount of shit going on in my life, the mixtape STILL has been at a halt.... I APOLOGIZE!! I know a lot of people have been asking for the full release of Fish Food vol. 2.. but TRUST ME, I think it may be worth the wait..!!!

Blog Facelift

Hey folks,

Hopefully you guys will like the new layout I created using the blogger toolbars (I tried my best making it look simple and clean) and so far, I like the way it turned out. I may do some further tweaking as the next couple weeks roll by; hopefully it'll continue adding to the "perfect look" I am envisioning when I think "awesome DJ's blog to check out cause it looks really really cool."

Fish Food Vol. 2 is in the works, definitely getting a lot of good/constructive feedback from the first one (in which I will keeping in mind) and I can't wait to finish working on it! Decided to change up my mixtape strategy and cut down on the skits/shoutouts (because we all know we can't stand listening to more than 30 seconds of [sorry just saying] shoutouts to a million different bboys we dont care about at the moment because we just want to listen to some damn music)!

Funny how I added the skit on mixtapes in Fish Food Vol. 1 though. Phonte really broke it down when he mentioned that nobody cares about all the special/extra features people throw into mixtapes because people just want to hear good music... thats it!

A lot of things are suddenly picking up the pace. A lot more side projects than usual, mixtapes to be worked on, jams to be thrown, etc. etc... Its looking good so far for 2011. I can't wait to see whats in store for the next couple of months!

Hey folks, finally decided to dig up some old zombies and bring a mix back I was working on last year.

There's actually a handful of other mixes I never brought out to the public, mainly because: 1. I am absolutely fucking paranoid about my own work, 2. I had a PS3, and 3. a good chunk of time was spent making playlists for events instead of mixtapes. Go figure which of the reasonings was the main one.

Featured on this mixtape is album art provided by Identity Studios and their select artist of the week Strange Program.

FB Giftbox December 2010 Edition

Peace everyone!

As the last month of 2010, I decided on making some changes to my monthly issues of the FB Giftbox so that: 1. You guys will start practicing more, 2. I can lessen the workload on choosing songs, and 3. I can get those short mixes out as much as possible. Included inside the giftbox is a file and a folder, please read the file labeled first and open the second one later.

I didnt follow any specific themes this month. As a treat to you guys I just chose out songs I think may inspire some of you guys to develop new moves during practice. Hopefully this'll do the trick.

Its been quite awhile folks. Sorry for the lack of updates for the past few days (er.. weeks?!). World of Dance was a big success, thanks to my guys Friction (Killerfornia) and Mikeskee (FSC) for putting together a great event!

I apologize for not uploading "Breaks of the Month: July" yet... I've been busy juggling a few other "not-so-important" things (such as finding ways to pay for rent, wondering why my grades aren't so great, and not to mention all those lovely happy-hour nights I spend); however, I have been also preparing for a few gigs lined up for the next couple months or so...:

This will be the first Seattle installment of the World of Dance series... not entirely sure what to expect, but from what I've seen happening in SF, it looks like a whole lot of fun. We'll see though :)

This is my dedication to the great Guru, formally Gang Starr with DJ Premier... A lot of the first exposures of hip hop was actually introduced through these artists. Though I did not dedicate my time to listen to each and every lyric Guru had created, the title to this song makes the most sense, since it was indeed one of the greatest mistake I've made to not listen to Guru enough! FREE Monthly Beats! First Edition!!!

Hey everyone,

Alongside mixtapes, I decided to upload monthly beats for everyone to enjoy and stay up on for future jams. If there's one thing I'd like the Seattle scene to excel in, it's musicality. By giving you these songs, I am now challenging everyone to open their minds to all sorts of beats; some might be good, some you might think is wack... but hey, it happens at a jam whether you like it or not. Always be prepared!

With that said, this month's theme in particular is good ol' northwest classics. I've seen recent videos lately from different countries using songs that were played jam after jam when I first started dancing. From then I thought, "I hope people in the northwest forgot about these songs..." This is my dedication to all the first jams I went to from back in the day: the PLU series, MM day, the Shoreline Rec/YMCA jams, 360/BTS, and all the other smaller, local jams that were so low key, only the most dedicated came out to support. Thank you!

Yes, if you HAVE been from the same (or older) scene from what I've experienced, you will most likely have most of these songs. However be prepared, I have included my own pick of songs as well to make it more worthwhile to check out.

It's getting colder, so being stuck inside a 30F* room, I decided on making an unedited mixtape that will only improve my "on-the-spot" experience (so if I ever play live, I might sound a LITTLE better than the next DJ... This was probably one of those jams where a lot of different things going on in the event just made it much more memorable... There were a few funny battles, as well as moments where the host would crack real mean jokes (although hilarious). I had a lot more fun with this jam than any other ones in the past for... quite awhile now actually?

After last night I have come to a realization that I just need to work harder in the things I love doing. So hopefully this post will be some sort of reminder to me in the future.

First off, by mentioning I had come to the rescue last minute, ON THEEEEEE day of the event, everyone should be in the seat of position where you should be saying "Fish, you deserve a gold star for being patient with everyone." Yes, I deserve a gold star, and MORE:

Upon getting there I was greeted by all the promoters and Korean Reality-TV Celeb-Gone-Rap Superstar Crown J (whom didn't even bother to give me his name when I first met him... alright?). After setting up and finishing the soundcheck, I prompted myself toward getting some food in my systems--to which we (being PRC Clothing staff + Friends and myself) walked to a McDonald's (remind me later why the hell McDonald's looks so different now, I can't find shit on the menu anymore). We head back toward the venue so we could finally start the show.

While the lights are dimmed inside the room where the stage was in, I began to adjust my eyes to the bright lights that were burning holes through my eye sockets. I had realized how many people have already went inside the building (what an astounishing number of korean girls... all ranging from 14-20!...uh...Jailbait?).

The show went on, and we had fun doing so. Won't go too much into details about that, but what I learned from this bittersweet experience is that you could never really be too trusting toward anyone backstage... truth of the matter is, without your Dj, you ain't much of a show... just a jukebox with an emcee.

Hey ya'll, a few updates for what's coming up:

- I was unable to fly out to Las Vegas for the Rival Schools jam, turns out due to my irresponsibility of buying my ticket on time, it prevented me from wanting to spend an extra few hundred dollars on a trip that would only last for about 3 days or so... Stupid me. I lost such a big opportunity. "Maybe next time Fish.. maybe next time."

-I finally uploaded my "I LOVE SHARK WEEK VOL. 1 BREAKS" mixtape. Look below for the download link, since I find it pretty useless to repost the album cover again and rewrite another amazing post about how awesome my mixtape is (it's super awesome sharks-and-gay-fish-touching action makes you wanna jump into some water if you know what I mean). Download that shit, PLEASE! I'll probably check it out myself to see how well it turned out (although I KNOW I could've made a more perfect mix... we live and learn).

-School is kicking my ass!!!!!.... My priorities as a student have fallen short of my dream of becoming one of the best breaks Dj's in the world. Yes, I am going to write it, ONLINE, and straightforwardly. My dream goal is to travel to all the major bboying spots (Europe, Russia, Asia, shit, everywhere!) and "plant my music seed" into all the listeners I meet. It sounds corny as hell... but damn, as the great Christopher Reeves said:

My title says it all. They are the ones who are down for anything, will dance on and offbeat to a Brittney Spears song, and will be usually the first ones to hunt down the Dj to tell him "You're the shit! I love you man!!"

White people, if you are reading this and seeing yourself nodding your head, you really should be. From what I've witnessed from frat parties thus so far, white people really, are the ones who seem to have the most fun at the worst places possible, meaning that they are perhaps one of the most optimistic groups of people ever.

By the time I was shaking my head in disappointment after listening to Soulja Boy's new cut that has him using one of those retarded autotune voices (robot voice HAHA) I saw white people learning the new dance to a song that had just come out (DO DAH STANKY LEGGGG, DO DAH STANKY LEGGGGGG).

They really know how to have fun, ranging from the big jock football players, to the big white girls who's wearing that super low cut shirt to holla at the DJ when he decides to sneak a look at her...when he decides to that is.

Schools For Fools 3

So, I am sitting here spending my last night, surrounded mostly by people I have just met during the course of last weekend, many of whom which it is the first time actually hanging out with. Just to reflect, there's just a few new things I have learned from traveling out here to the LAX:

-Try to communicate your needs directly and immediately. There had been times where I had felt utterly isolated amongst a group of people I have met for the first time-with it I usually forget their names if there's too many people-and actually become... quiet? I realized that for some reason I actually start feeling uncomfortable about being there, despite being someone who's open.

-I'm starting to really feel the adrenaline rush and enjoyment in spinning out of state. I literally felt shaky, nervous and sweaty standing behind the turntables. There was this tingling sensation that made me feel like, "hey, I am probably the most important person in this room right now... cool!"

-LA Korean BBQ is indeed one of the best places I have eaten at in my life. Not only did I get the opportunity to eat it once, but in fact, I ate it twice! Firstly, the $12.99 deal for unlimited bbq is ridiculous... with about 6-8 different choices of meats, it's really hard to go wrong. The restaurant afterward however was pretty tasty too. I can truly understand why LA was the originators of the Korean Galbi.

-MIXTAPES AND BUSINESS CARDS ARE CRUCIAL! Let me tell you... sheesh, I just know I need to go out and make more more more!!

Not quite sure why the background or the shark's eyes are a different color, but this is pretty much the layout of my new mixtape I will be releasing this weekend (minus the weird colors... eww) exclusively for the first time (I'm getting SOOOOO O-fish-al now BWHAHAHA!...). Pretty excited to fly out again, this time to an entirely new environment--I had gone to the LAX a few months ago but only went to a jam and straight back, no time to really enjoy anything out there... Hopefully the lovely people of the LAX will love me and I would be a happy Dj for the entire weekend. :]

Are you guys ready for it? I'm obviously not, but somehow, it'll work itself out.

Alas, I am sitting here in my underwear contemplating whether or not to cram for the last hour or so before I head out for one of my finals that I didn't really go to in my Scandinavian Children's Literature class. I suppose a lot of things have been happening since I last posted an update a few weeks ago:

1. Fat Laces - Truly a fun experience up in Shoreline, it was great to know that I was doing well off after the first hour, then slowly started keeping the same pace or so the rest of the event. Looking out into the crowd and seeing that everyone else is feeling what I was playing made my night (despite frantically looking for the next song to play... it's such a pain!). 2. Winter Storm - This dude was shady! I'm not even going to lie, first off, PLEASE never promise someone a certain amount of money, not contact them UNTIL the day before your event, and have your DJ call YOU instead of yourself (it's your job promoter!!). Good thing I declined his offer of a meager $75 + a contract saying he would happily pay the rest of the money within "a week or so"--I really can't trust guys like these... I've lost so much money in the past from these type of guys!!!!!!! From this event I lost $25 from canceling a lousy hotel down there... thanks a bunch man!

3. LAX - Schools For Fools - WOO! First event I will be spinning at out of state! I really am excited to see what it's like out there, knowing that most of my music will be much different from what they normally play since Seattle has a different scene compared to the LAX area. Hoping to meet lots of new people down there and fully appreciating the essence of traveling and sightseeing... and it's only one week away! SHEESH!

4. Vegas? I should be flying out again there sometime in April, just have to make a few contacts to see if that's still going down, yet again, I will be excited for that most definitely!

5. Misc. Events - Music4Life, a semi-formal, and maybe a few parties are heading my way just in this springtime. I really haven't been digging around for new joints for the club, so I should be getting on that, stat.

Wow, March is just a crazy month for me, for Djing as well as many other things coming up just because the sun is out now:

-Managed to book a few gigs outside of WA for once! First off, big THANK YOU's to Just-roc (Battle Snakes) for even considering me to Dj for his event out in LAX, as well as a hug THANK YOU to Chai (Runaway Tribe) for an opportunity as well to fly out in April. Few parties here and there, as well as gaining a closer step toward those frats/sorority gigs.

-DIG! I need to do that, I haven't been out to a record store in ages!! SHEESH!

-After registering today for school, I realized how much I hated the system for signing up at UW. I managed to lose 2 out of the 3 classes I wanted to have picked for the Spring quarter, so to replace it, I am now taking two semi-difficult classes (well, classes that would require more attention than I have been giving school for the last.... year and a half HAHA).

First off, I'd like to thank all those who have given me (or even considered giving me) the opportunity to spin at their events, whether it's a house party, club, bboy event, any little bit at the moment is helping me put myself out on the map (and hopefully stacking that paper soon WOOP WOOP)! It's always such a good feeling at the end of the day, realizing you have made about 50-100 people's night experience something to remember about (what you know about those panty droppers? LOL).

My boy DJ Lourawk and I were KILLIN' it on the tables last night (house party at my friend's). We really didn't even have to touch anything above the 102 bpms just because we had so much material, I figured we didn't even need to go any faster (or slower) all night. At some point in the night we had about a good amount of people dancing, enough for the floors to be sticky and slippery (from condensation.... disgusting).

Upon arriving at Jack in the box at around 3AM, I had a realization that we just got ourselves a little bit more ahead than before with making the "DJing" dream come true. With the coming newer gigs (as well as club nights with Lou, YEAH THAT'S MY BOYYYY) I feel like this may be taking us in a direction that will be... quite interesting. I'm actually curious about how things will unravel, and how we shall overcome it. I'm just lucky to have such a good partner starting off (most definitely).

So, to be a bit more stricter with myself, starting this week I will be making weekly mixes to see my own progression with mixtapes and if I do feel it necessary, I will put them online for all of you lovers/haters to download to throw on your ipod, cellphone, myspace, facebook, whatever the hell you use to communicate and flaunt your style. GIT IT!

It's time to get a bit more serious than before. As winter is melting away, I hope that as Spring arrives, I will do a bit more about "Spring cleaning" my priorities as well as my room.

RESURRECTION: The mixtape that never came..

So, beyond ALL comprehension of how long I said I was going to take on my new mixtape... it merely took about an hour to finish it (roughly about 30 minutes recording, 30 minutes to upload and edit.... yeaozah!). I feel that this mixtape was thrown together because:

a. I needed updated material to show my investee's how proficient I was in mixing

b. I needed to update this blog by actually posting something important than just another "rant!"

c. Looking back at the date of when I said I was going to finish my mixtape gave me sore eyes and a few teardrops fell as I realized that I was not only just a week overdue... but MONTHS. NO GOOD!!!!

So peep the new mixtape ya'll, tell me what you think, and make your bed go BOOM BOOM!

BEDROOM SECRETS Part 1

HUZZAH! Million years of no updates.

So... I have been sluffin' as of last post. I apologize for the lack of updates, but as of December 7th, this is what's gone down:

-Left and came back from a trip from Las Vegas again for the Vegas Shakedown 4 and Claws Out 3 (LA). For the Shakedown I was able to make it to top 8 (if I recall, it's been awhile) out of 64 or so crews? Not too bad on my end :) As for Claws Out, it was more of an observational battle than anything else, didn't really feel like battling at all, nor was my body willing to cooperate (was insanely tired). There are a ton of photos, but I will put up the better ones to save some room.

-Giggin' for the SupportHER jam couple weeks ago, which to my surprise did VERY excellent as far as music went (I didn't really have any special preparation for the jam, which in a sense made me feel unprepared, but I somehow managed). I was able to successfully throw out recent jams (what you know about JT or Llyod?! HAHA) and got a pretty good response from my end.

So far no future gigs, so might as well enjoy the holiday season and wait until then. :)

WOOHOO! Two days until I'm done with my quarter!!

Thanks for all those who voted for my next mixtape. From the looks of it, it will be a bboying session mixtape, plenty of breaks, soul, funk, you know, all that good stuff. ;) Now I don't think I will be able to work on this until later on this week, only because school's been roundhouse-kicking my face back and forth, thus requiring myself to attend to other matters.. But yes, regardless, you will all receive a kick-ass mixtape created by yours truly, and I have high hopes for this new one. :) Expect great things, and don't forget to tell all your mothers that I'm going to make the greatest mixtape of all time. That is all I ask.

In the coming weeks I will be flying out to Las Vegas for two jams, the Vegas Shakedown as well as Claws Out: III, both of whom are being thrown by good friends of mine. Hopefully things turn out great while I'm out there, I'll be sure to take lots of photos to show everyone out here to expand, and learn the benefits of traveling and seeing what's out in the world, because really, we only live once.

I believe as normal human beings, we tend to forget that we are all merely specks of living matter in a universe that is far too large for any of us to comprehend. We have oceans still unconquered, continents of which we have not been in, the skies that are seemingly endless that move over our heads without realizing it... What is really out there, in this place we call "Earth?"

I want to know what it means to live. I want to see, indulge in, experience cultures that I have never been to... I want to know how it feels to be where nobody has ever been to, tell stories that anyone would enjoy, live to dine in places where foods I eat normally originated (Italian pasta from Italy? Japanese food from Japan? Greek in Greece?). I want to visit the Seven Wonders of the World, get photos, and be satisfied.

Naturally I feel like yes, it is A LOT of time and money that needs to be put in this, but someway, somehow, I will make it happen. I truly will.

Murs: Murs for President = Dew from the Heavens!

No hate, but much to appreciate.

Murs has been on the come up since I've been checking out his shit from Murs3:16 and the Felt album with Slug (Felt: A Tribute to Lisa Bonet, which I felt was also a decent album to begin with). I stopped listening to him-no specific reason, just stayed away from hip hop for awhile-and suddenly it hit me when I was watching MTV Jams today while studying for my Psych midterm for Wednesday: He's on MTV... the fuck?

Instantly I began listening and watching; his crazy-ass mismatched hair instinctively caught my attention after that Jackson 5 sample began hitting. "Oh man... oh man..."

A lot of the choppiness sounding samples may irritate some, but in a sense I have this growing interest in it (ever since I left the 9th wonder phase, I felt like anything sounding choppy was shit, off-sounding and unappealing, as well as sloppy) once again and I feel like much the album was smoothened out, meaning there was a strong groove with the uses of the deep kick that is used pretty much in every song-hell, I like it though!

Being a DJ that looks more for the beat than lyricist at all... I'd have to rate this album a solid 4/5. Could be better, but hell, he's on the come up!

Alright, so basically this was breakdown of the jam that happened last night (Er.. last Saturday):

-People have a new found love for Justin Timberlake. Didn't think it would cause such a big deal.

-For once in awhile the audience was actually made up of more than 50% of UW students/average people from the regular 99% bboys + 1% girlfriends/16 year old high school girls a.k.a. "Jailbait."

-Majority of the battles were much heated, much of whom I thought have really worked hard to get where they are now.

-Free red bulls or water for me :)

Upon arriving to Phi Kappa Theta, I saw some things that were noteworthy and will use it as a constant reminder to never go to a frat party unless I was on my way of meeting up with a girl:

-Floors/walls were literally dripping with sweat. I couldn't breathe nor tell the difference between people taking a shower or dripping with sweat (not to mention the humid air).

-You are not able to see the person in front of you, unless you had a cellphone light. That kind of stuff really bothers me, mainly because if you were being sandwiched by two fat chicks you would not be able to tell the difference (unless you were feeling around, then I suppose you would be in utter disgust and would want to disappear).

-The walk home: That sucks. Moving on...

-Singing Happy Birthday is now a habitual moment in history now.

Got some more offers to do more events in the coming months, excited to see where this goes, and hopefully it becomes something big! Time to make a difference.

Radio... what?

To start of my first blog and official "rant" on this page, I just gotta let some stuff off my chest that really bothers me about music in today's age. I'm sorry, but people are stupid, and that isn't the worst part of it all: it keeps continuing. No longer are people able to create an identity for themselves; in fact most of us spend more time listening to what's popular at the moment, and follow along with the trend, it's just part of our biological humanistic antics, and I hate it! Stop to think about what you listen to before saying "I like this." And no, in no way in hell am I trying to be a non-comformist by telling you to stop listening to top 40's, but in fact, stop listening to trash you genuinely know won't be listened to within a year (not too long but in music it's pretty quick). I'm a DJ for Christ's sake, I don't really have too much of a choice when it comes down to hating a lot of music; I gotta find things I like about it in order for me to try and like it enough to play it for whoever the hell I'm spinnin' for. It really ain't easy.

Hell, if I really wanted it my way, we would be listening to Janet, Keyshia, MJ, and Biggie every song I play. That would be a bangin' set, but hell, nobody ever really fucks with R&B or anyone dead in the clubs/parties. I'll show them though!!!! HUZZAH!!!

In other news this weekend is Claws Out:SE, should be exciting, because I sure am! More pictures/details later.

Here's a quick introduction of who I am, and what this blog will serve you:

-My name is Sean Thomas Lee, otherwise known as Fish Boogie (Minus the DJ part, for some reason it just doesn't sound so great all together)

-Hobbies include bboying, listening to catchy music, swimming, and reading

-Pet peeves includes immaturity, people with no sense of humor, and flakers

-Favorite food is mushroom pizza, worst is coconuts or taro

-Got my name surprisingly from a New Jack's Battle in Shoreline, named myself "fish2k" which then quickly changed to Fish Boogie. At the moment it served no meaning but gradually it all came together after I realized that it represented myself standing out from the rest of the people- a fish among a group of people, a person among a school of fish... you get the idea, hopefully.

-I am working hard to make myself a name here in the rainy city of Seattle, and hopefully become one of the best DJ's to represent Seattle in the future

-Dreams and aspirations are useless if you don't do anything about it
